NEW YORK – Ambassador Đỗ Hùng Việt, Permanent Representative of Vietnam to the United Nations, reaffirmed Vietnam’s strong commitment to multilateralism, the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, and global partnerships aimed at advancing collective efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and ensure that no one is left behind.
Speaking at the 2025 High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF) in New York on July 22, Vietnam’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs called on the international community to strengthen multilateral cooperation through bold and decisive actions.
The Ambassador welcomed ongoing efforts to reform the United Nations, including the UN80 Initiative, viewing it as an opportunity to build a more streamlined, effective, and coherent UN system—especially at the national level. He shared Vietnam’s successful implementation of the “One UN” initiative, highlighting it as a valuable experience that can inform the current reform process.

Vietnam emphasized the critical role of science, technology, and innovation in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), while calling for equitable access for developing countries to advanced technologies, knowledge, and digital infrastructure through technology transfer, capacity building, and innovation partnerships.
Ambassador Đỗ Hùng Việt underscored the importance of the private sector in promoting sustainable development—particularly through innovation, investment, the creation of green jobs, and the development of sustainable supply chains. He also proposed strengthening public-private partnerships and promoting responsible business practices to accelerate the implementation of the 2030 Agenda.
Vietnam urged developed countries to fulfill their financial commitments and support technology transfer and capacity building to help establish sustainable infrastructure and industries.
He also highlighted that the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) should play a proactive role in advancing global partnerships, thereby expanding innovative solutions, especially those that leverage emerging technologies.
