"To convert equivalent scores between different admission methods, Hanoi University has introduced an admission score calculation formula for the combined admission method that every candidate can easily use to calculate their own score.
This morning, July 23, Hanoi University announced the minimum admission quality threshold (floor score), the score calculation method for the combined admission method, and an equivalence conversion table for admission scores between the different methods.
According to the admission score calculation formula provided by the university, every candidate can easily calculate their own score without needing a calculator or complex look-ups."

In 2025, Hanoi University will admit students based on 3 subject combinations/groups, including: Group D combinations comprising 3 subjects: Math, Literature, and Foreign Language (Foreign Language includes English, French, Chinese, German, Japanese, Korean); A01 (Math, Physics, English), TH01 (Math, Informatics, English). The minimum admission score for all 3 subject combinations/groups is 22/40 points.
The university conducts admissions using two methods (excluding direct admission and prioritized admission as stipulated by the Ministry of Education and Training): based on high school graduation exam scores and combined admission.
For combined admission, the factors contributing to the admission score are the overall average score, encouragement points, and priority points (if any). The overall average score is the sum of the academic transcript scores from 6 semesters for 3 subjects: Math, Literature, and Foreign Language (Foreign Language score multiplied by a coefficient of 2).
Encouragement points are bonus points ranging from 1 to 4 corresponding to the conditions met by the candidate (international foreign language certificates, SAT scores, provincial-level excellent student awards, etc.).
Priority points are regional and applicant-category points according to the Ministry of Education and Training's regulations.
In response to the Ministry of Education and Training's requirement to convert admission scores equivalently so that the admission score is determined by major, regardless of the admission method, Hanoi University has introduced the following formula for calculating the score for the combined admission method:
Total combined admission score after conversion = (Overall average score – 4) + encouragement points + priority points (if any). The total converted admission score must not exceed the maximum score (40 points).
By applying the above formula, candidates can calculate their own equivalent score for comparison with the admission score from the high school graduation exam results method
