Below are some typical comparative benchmarks at the 50th, 75th, and 90th percentiles—representing average, good-to-excellent, and top-tier candidate groups (based on data from the Ministry of Education and Training).
Bách phân vị | A00 | A01 | B00 | C00 | D01 | C01 | D07 |
50 (trung vị) | 17,60 | 16,85 | 16,35 | 20,35 | 18,85 | 17,10 | 15,85 |
75 (top 25%) | 21,35 | 20,10 | 20,10 | 23,75 | 21,85 | 20,00 | 19,50 |
90 (top 10%) | 24,50 | 23,25 | 23,50 | 26,00 | 24,50 | 22,75 | 22,75 |
Accordingly, for the C00 subject combination (Literature, History, Geography): The median score reached 20.35 points, meaning 50% of candidates scored at or above this level. This is also the combination with the highest median score among the 7 combinations mentioned. Meanwhile, the top 10% of candidates scored 26 points or higher.

Conversely, the D07 combination (Math, Chemistry, English) and B00 combination (Math, Chemistry, Biology) are the two combinations with the lowest percentiles. For the B00 combination, 50% of candidates scored 16.35 points or higher, while for the D07 combination, 50% of candidates scored 19.50 points or higher. The top 10% in the D07 combination only achieved 22.75 points or higher, which is 3.25 points lower than the C00 combination.
The D01 combination (Math, Literature, English) and A00 combination (Math, Physics, Chemistry) show a more stable score distribution. Their median scores are around 17.6 points (A00) to 18.85 points (D01). The top 10% in these combinations scored 24.5 points or higher.
To ensure effective, transparent, fair, and on-schedule implementation of the 2025 admissions plan, the Ministry of Education and Training (MoET) requests training institutions to focus on the following:
For training institutions, based on consulting and comparing score distributions and percentiles of total scores for some traditional combinations using standardized high school graduation exam results, MoET's guiding documents, the main admission subjects for each major/group of majors, specific requirements of the major and institution, and statistical evaluation of previous academic results, MoET requires training institutions to proactively develop and announce equivalent admission score conversions among admission combinations according to the established plan.
In cases where results from separate exams (aptitude tests, thinking assessments, etc.) and other methods are used, based on the percentile announcements from the organizing units of these separate exams, the training institution must identify the most suitable combination (the "root" combination, usually the one with the highest correlation coefficient between the two exams) for conversion with the results of the separate exam. Transitive relationships should not be established.
Training institutions must clearly inform candidates and strictly adhere to these guidelines during the admission process. They are also responsible for explaining the equivalent admission score conversion results.
